6 Key Elements of a Cozy Living Room

They say that kitchen is the heart of the home, but living room is just as equally important. It is a place where we spend most of our time, sharing it with our family or friends, watching TV, or vegging out on our own. In planning their living rooms, people pay a lot of attention to the design and matching colours and styles. Sure, it is an advantage if the room looks pleasant to the eye, but it is much more important for it to be as comfortable and cosy as possible. Some items are an inevitable part of any cosy living room. We have made a list to help you reorganize your living room and make it a more attractive place to spent time in.

  1. House plants

Plants are so versatile in their natural décor, you just need to find the one that will most suit your living room. They bring life and vibrancy to any room, with their shades of green, shapes of leaves and body, and colour of flowers. Once you have chosen the right plants for you, make sure you place them so that they accentuate certain other details in the room. Do not just stash them in the corner, like you do not know what to do with them.

  1. A thick warm carpet

Whether you decided on a wall-to-wall carpet, or one or more mats, just make sure they are thick and soft. A thick carpet made of natural materials brings warmth, and you definitely want that. The room become inviting. Wall-to-wall carpets are especially convenient if you have small kids, because you will not have to worry if they are walking barefoot.

  1. A TV set

TVs are no longer used just for watching the latest news. Most TVs today are smart devices and can be used as computer screens for various purposes. A TV can turn your living room into a play zone, or a home theatre in no time. Invite your friend over, make some popcorns, play a movie, and enjoy instant entertainment. Or watch a football game in high definition. Soon, your living room will become the main gathering place for you and your friends. These newest technologies are no longer a status symbol, they have become a necessity. The rise in demand has been recorded by many stores that sell home theatres in Perth at affordable prices.

  1. Something personal

Nothing brings more of that homely feeling than when you add your personal touch. Choose one wall on which you will hang family photos. Decorate the room with homemade decorations. Place the family’s keepsakes on the mantelpiece, or at any other prominent spot in the room. A room without any personal details feels cold and less welcoming.

  1. Sitting area

This zone is the heart of the living room. Make sure you buy a comfy sofa or ottoman, if you want the time spent here to be enjoyed. For extra back support, throw in some extra pillows, and add a throw blanket to have it around when you want to snuggle up on the couch. Do not forget a coffee table. It round off the whole sitting area.

  1. Scented candles

Candles are not just for romantic evening for two. You can light them up even when you are along, after a long day at work, to relax. Display them all over the living room. Just be careful not to leave the room unguarded while the candles are burning.

Does your living room feel comfortable? Can you make it cosier with the help of these ideas?
