Dubrovnik Old Town - A Minimalist Medieval City

Dubrovnik Croatia is one of the most attractive and best known Mediterranean cities and for those Game of Thrones enthusiasts out there - also the real life location of King's Landing. The tourist potential is enormous given Dubrovnik's medieval history and vast sea port. In my quest for minimalist travel through Europe, I discovered this gem of a port. With its reasonable airfare and authentic lodging, Dubrovnik Croatia is a fantastic long weekend or two week stay!

Many locals rent beautiful villas at rock bottom prices, current inventory can be found HERE.

While I am able to travel inland from Germany to Croatia, international airfare is also quite reasonable with round trip flights priced at the $1000 mark from Chicago and Washington DC. Dubrovnik's airport is located in Cilipri with dozens of flights daily. The modern Dubrovnik airport is expeditious when connecting visitors to land travel options for his or her final leg to Dubrovnik.

If you are a minimalist traveler looking for a locale that is as flavorful as it is practical, Dubrovnik is an excellent option. Croatia is not an over-advertised American tourist spot making it a great place to spend time and not money, just what the minimalist traveler ordered!
