Minimalist Parenting - The Ark Toy Store

An entire toy store dedicated to quality wooden toys that are educational and meet the Waldorf School standards, The Ark Toy Store is most definitely unique! A Waldorf school promotes hands-on learning and stresses the role of imagination. Anchored in the Sacramento California region this toy store has thrived since the 1980's and has steadily grown to three stores strong.

There are three locations (one being in Berkeley, the other two in San Francisco). And each store is built to look like an ark! :) Very charming and cute. The business originally started in the late 1980s in Sacramento, CA right next door to a Waldorf school, specializing then in only Waldorf art and school supplies and wooden toys. The Ark eventually expanded and moved to San Francisco, where they diversified their selection and became the city's best rated local toy store (it's currently rated as best san francisco local toy store by the Bay Guardian's annual "best of the bay" edition 2013) However, The Ark has never lost its charming, old-fashioned toy store appeal

Any parent would love the beautiful toy colors and sturdy construction. An especially appealing set of toys is The Ark's Heirloom line which features exceptional construction, quality, and curiosity that can be passed along through family generations. From puzzles to stuffed animals Ark Toys is doing business differently and should be applauded. Don't live in California? No worries, The Ark offers an extensive eCommerce site to the world.
